Week 4 – Dribbling Stats

The 4th gameweek of the Premier League has finished, I wanted to take this time to look at some team and individual dribbling statistics.

Manchester United’s early success has come at no surprise with their more than generous starting fixture list. United have attempted and completed the most take-ons in the Premier League with Pogba (13) and Matic (11) leading the Red Devils with successful take-on’s. Everton on the other hand have registered the least amount of successful take-on’s at 17, with Sigurdsson at 3.

Liverpool fans have something to be excited about, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has completed 17 take-on’s in in just four game weeks, the exact amount the Everton TEAM has registered.

Crystal Palace, bottom of the table, with 0 points, and Roy Hodgson as their manager (massive mistake for many reasons other than his horrible 36% win percentage as a Premier League manager) have registered a healthy amount of successful take-ons because of Townsend and Loftus-Cheek.

Top 10 Individual Leaders as of Game Week 4 for Successful Take-On’s

  1. Oxlade- Chamberlain – 17
  2. Townsend – 16
  3. Pogba – 13
  4. Matic – 11
  5. Joshua King – 11
  6. Dembele – 10

Penalty Box touches have always fascinated me because it can directly correlate with how many goals a player scores. The top 6 in the league with Penalty Box touches: United, City, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Southhampton.

  1. Lukaku – 4 Goals – 30 Pen Box touches = 7.5 per goal
  2. Welbeck -3 Goals – 23 Pen Box touches = 7.7 per goal
  3. Morata – 3 Goals – 21 Pen Box touches = 7 per goal
  4. Jesus – 3 Goals – 22 Pen Box touches = 7.33 per goal
  5. Mane – 3 Goals – 24 Pen Box touches = 8 per goal
  6. Vardy – 3 Goals – 13 Pen Box touches = 4.3 per goal

Touches: Penalty Box, Final 3rd, Opposition Half (hover over bubbles)

I will be back for Game Week 5 to put together the cumulative stats and see how each team has progressed.
